Problems by symptom
The room does not get cold
- Not cooling: the aircond is running, yet the room stays warm or takes far too long to cool down.
- Weak airflow: there is air coming out, just not much of it.
- Ice on the coil: frost forms on the indoor unit because air is not passing through the coil freely.
- Warm air from the vents: the fan works but the air is not cold at all.
- High electric bill: the bill climbs while the cooling gets worse.
- Uneven cooling: one corner of the room, or one room, never cools properly.
Water and drainage
- Water leaking: water on the floor or the wall below the indoor unit.
- Leaking from the unit body: the water comes out of the casing or the drain pan, not the pipes.
- Dripping while it runs: a steady drip that starts once the aircon has been on for a while.
- Drain pipe clogged: the drain line is blocked, so the water backs up and overflows.
Smell and mould
- Bad smell: a musty or sour smell as soon as the unit starts.
- Mould inside the unit: the smell keeps coming back, or you can see dark spots on the blower.
Noise, shaking and cutting out
- Vibration: the unit shakes or hums more than it used to.
- Making noise: rattling, buzzing, clicking or grinding.
- Cuts out after a while: it starts normally, then switches itself off.
Power and controls
- Not turning on: nothing happens when you press the button.
- Trips the breaker: the breaker drops when the aircon starts up.

- Gas leak: the cooling gets weaker bit by bit rather than all at once.

What can I check myself before booking?
Power, remote settings, filters and the outdoor unit. Our troubleshooting page goes through them in order, with what to look for at each step. Keep the casing closed and leave the wiring alone. If none of the checks helps, the problem needs a technician.
Which problems should go straight to a technician?
Anything electrical, such as a burning smell or a breaker that drops again after one reset. The same goes for an outdoor unit that never starts, an error code that returns, and ice or leaking that comes back after the filters have been washed.
Repair, chemical wash or servicing: which one do I need?
Repair is for a failed part or an electrical fault. A chemical wash is for dirt inside the unit, which often causes musty smells, weak airflow and some leaks. Normal servicing suits a unit that works but has not been cleaned for a while. We confirm which one applies after looking at the unit.
