Aircon installation in Kuala Lumpur for wall split and ceiling cassette units – new setups, replacements and relocations. Our own technicians do the work: the person who quotes the job is the person who mounts the unit. Typical range RM 350–900, depending on unit type and piping work.
Send a photo of the wall and where the outdoor unit will sit – that is usually enough for a firm price without a site visit.
Aircon installation, or aircond installation as most of KL says it, is the one job where cutting corners costs you for years. A unit mounted level, drained properly and vacuumed before charging will run for a decade. The same unit put up in forty minutes by someone in a hurry will drip down your wall by the second monsoon.
Aircon Installation Price in KL
Where you land inside the range depends on three things: the unit type, how far the pipe run is, and whether a mounting point already exists.
| Job | Where it sits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wall split, existing bracket and pipe run | Bottom of range | Replacing a dead unit in the same spot is the cheapest install we do |
| New install, fresh piping | Middle | Drilling, bracket, new copper, drain routing |
| Ceiling cassette or long pipe run | Top of range | Ceiling work, awkward outdoor access, two technicians |
We quote after seeing the install point, not over the phone. Full breakdown across every service is on the aircon service price guide.

Why Proper Installation Matters in KL
Kuala Lumpur runs at 80–90% humidity most of the year, and a split unit pulls litres of water out of the air every day. All of it has to leave the building through one drain hose. If that hose has no fall, or sags somewhere inside the wall cavity, water backs up into the indoor unit and comes out of the front grille – usually down a painted wall.
- Water down the wall after a few months. Almost always drain fall, not a faulty unit. Fixing it properly means opening the wall.
- Compressor dies in year three. Air and moisture left in the line turn acidic under pressure and eat the compressor from inside. Vacuuming adds fifteen minutes and we do not skip it.
- Noise under a bedroom window. Outdoor unit placement is a decision, not an afterthought. We ask before we drill.
Most of the “aircond leaking water” calls we get are not broken units. They are installation mistakes surfacing one or two rainy seasons later.
Installation Process
- Inspect the install point. Wall construction, where the condenser can sit, how the drain will run, distance between the two units.
- Mount the bracket. Anchored into solid wall, checked level. A unit off-level drains to the wrong corner.
- Mount indoor and outdoor units. The outdoor unit needs airflow around it and somewhere the noise will not sit under a window.
- Run pipework and drainage. Continuous fall on the drain, no dips, insulation on the refrigerant line.
- Vacuum the system. Moisture and air out before gas goes in.
- Pressure and cooling test. We run the unit and confirm the temperature drop before calling it done.

WhatsApp usInstalling an Aircon in a KL Condo
High-rise installs are mostly an access and paperwork problem rather than a technical one. Most KL condos require the contractor to register with the management office, work inside set hours, use the service lift, and sometimes place a deposit before drilling.
We handle that before the visit, not on your doorstep. Send the building name when you book and we sort registration and the lift slot in advance. Worth knowing: many buildings only allow drilling on weekdays during office hours, so a Saturday install usually needs a few days’ notice.
Condenser placement is the other condo constraint. Many towers have a designated ledge and will not allow anything mounted on the facade. If your ledge is already full, tell us early – it changes what unit fits.

Replacing an Old Unit vs Installing New
If you are swapping a dead unit in the same spot, we check the existing pipe run before quoting. Reusing twenty-year-old copper is often a false economy: old lines hold oil from the previous system, and modern R32 units do not tolerate that well. Sometimes the line is fine and we save you the cost. Sometimes it is not, and we say so before you commit.
If the old aircon still runs but cools badly, installation may not be what you need at all. A chemical wash or a repair is far cheaper than a replacement, and we will tell you which one applies.
What to Send Us Before We Quote
- Photo of the wall where the indoor unit goes
- Photo of where the outdoor unit will sit
- Rough distance between the two
- Aircon brand and horsepower, if you already bought it
- Building name, if it is a condo
Aircon Installation FAQ (KL)
How much is aircond installation in KL?
RM 350–900 depending on unit type and piping work. A same-spot replacement sits at the bottom of that range, a ceiling cassette with a long pipe run at the top.
How long does installation take?
Most units go in on one visit. A straightforward wall split is a couple of hours; ceiling cassettes and new pipe runs take longer.
Do you set up drainage?
Yes, and it is the part we are fussiest about. Drain pipe setup and alignment is included, with continuous fall and no dips. This is what prevents dripping a year later.
Is a gas check included?
Yes. We vacuum the line, then check pressure and cooling output before we leave.
Do I buy the unit or do you supply it?
Either works. Plenty of customers buy their own from a retailer and book us for the install. Tell us the brand and horsepower and we will confirm it suits the room before you pay for it.
Can you install in a condo with management restrictions?
Yes. Send the building name when you book and we deal with contractor registration, permitted hours and the service lift before the visit.
Can you reuse the old piping?
Sometimes. We check the existing run before quoting. Old copper holding oil from a previous system can shorten the life of a new R32 unit, so we tell you honestly whether it is worth reusing.
How do I choose the right aircond size (HP) for my room?
Room size matters most, then ceiling height and afternoon sun. How many people use the room, and for how long, also counts. A unit that is too small never catches up with the heat; one that is too big cycles on and off, uses more power and leaves the room clammy. Send us the room size and we will tell you which HP fits.
Do you need a site visit before installing?
For a new installation or a layout that is not straightforward, we recommend one. It confirms the piping route, the drain slope, where the outdoor unit can sit and whether the power supply is enough. For a same-spot replacement, photos are usually enough.
